Dukatz - Literaturhaus-Kaffee, Salvatorplatz 1, Munich, Germany
Duzkatz has moved a couple of hundred meters from Literaturhaus to the Fünf Höfe: Schäfflerhof - Maffeistraße 3a, 80333 München;
Tel.: (089) 710 40 73 73; www.dukatz.de
The neighbourhood is more elegant, more modern and more stylish, but when you are at the bar or the coffeshop which are on the ground floor you feel comfortable. The restaurant is on the first floor (stairs or lift).
We had good fish dishes and medaillons from veal filet which were perfectly done. The white wine (Pfälzer Grauburgunder) was memorable.
Apparently the "new" Dukatz is an in-place. Book in adavance!

Asamhaus, Sendlinger Straße 34, Munich, Germany
The brothers Cosmas Damian Asam and Egid Quirin Asam were great artists who built, painted and decorated famous Rococo churches from Elsass over southern Germany up to Bohemia. They also designed and erected the famous Asam church in Munich (Sendlinger Str. 32). Adjacent to the left side of this church they erected their personal residential building in 1733 and the following years. The front of this house is an outstanding example of Roccoco stucco art and an illustration of the dreams and ideals of the two brothers Asam.
Stucco florestal garlands swing from the church to the Asamhaus in this way connecting the two buildings. On the right side of the house you see religious motives (Madonna, JHS, angels). In the center of the front greek goddess Pallas Athenae is leading a young boy up to the fountain of the muses, and from there the winged horse Pegasus flies up to Apollo, the god of beauty and the arts. Fama (fame) plays the trombone, and wealth (which the brothers obviously also hoped to obtain) is indicated by the baskets full of flowers and fruit.
On the left of the front the sensuous side of art is hinted by the faun and his lecherous company.
Don't blindly pass the house. Stop on the sidedwalk opposite the Asamhaus, look and take pleasure in studying this gorgeous facade!

Forsthaus Woernbrunn, Woernbrunn 1, 82031 Guenwald, Munich, Germany
Here you can meet "Schicki-Micki" people from nearby Gruenwald as well as sportive cyclists who stop here for a drink or a meal.
Forsthaus Woernbrunn, surrounded by the woods of the southern outskirts of Munich, doesn't offer anything outstandig, but it is a well known restaurant where you are served traditional Bavarian food.
Good on sunny days when you want to combine having a nice meal and going for a leisure walk in the woods.

Hofbräuhaus, Am Platzl 9, Munich, Germany
I recall there was a very good meat shop right around the corner from the glockenspiel in the marienplatz, which had excellent landjaegers and other smoked meats.
