forgetful tip
I recall there was a very good meat shop right around the corner from the glockenspiel in the marienplatz, which had excellent landjaegers and other smoked meats.

Saturdays
A visit on Saturday afternoons is a great time to visit. There are local people in traditional dress enjoying the music. beer and food. A much tamer experience than evenings. All I heard in advance was don't go it's too touristy but I was pleasantly surprised.
